Progress is the Only Gear

Car stick shift

Are you regressing, progressing, or stuck in neutral? With career demands, shifting economies, and competing priorities, standing still isn’t an option. God’s direction is always forward — never backward, never stagnant.

Think about it: when your car is in neutral, you’re not moving. In reverse, you risk damage before reaching your destination. But in drive, you move toward your expected end. The same is true for your assignment. Whether your goal is to step into senior leadership, launch something new, or bring excellence to the role you have now, your gear must be set to drive. The road may bring sharp turns, uphill climbs, delays, or potholes, but momentum ensures progress.

God speaks to where you’re going, not where you’ve been. Any voice that chains you to the past is not His. Paul said it best: “Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead” (Philippians 3:13 AMP). The Message translation puts it plainly: “I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward...I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.”

Onward isn’t just a word — it’s a call to advance. It’s the command to progress in your career, your leadership, and your marketplace mandate. God is ready for your next. The question is: are you?

Don’t regress. Don’t stay stuck. Progress. Your future, and the marketplace you’re called to impact, are waiting on it.

Take it further with GPS: God’s Principled System. It will anchor you in the principles that keep you advancing and give you the structure to walk them out day by day.
